UM Day 1 - 11th May
Ok, I woke up at 6am in horror cos I realised I had dozed off and so didn’t do much VSA stuff… I rushed until abt 8am, and my fren was waiting for me at the void deck to collect wat I did. And after that, I realised I hadn’t packed finish some stuff, including the laptop itself… everything in mad rush. Finally it was abt 9am when I reached sch…. Quite late I would say but juz in time. We put our barang barang in the conference room and set off to visit a few sites in Singapore. First we went to Hotel 1929. It has pretty cool and compact boutique suite. They actually encouraged the occupants to haf their baths outside in the open courtyard/garden outside their room! Haha~~ but rest assured u cannot be seen. [photos after this entry]
Next, we went to WOHA Office~~! Cool~ hardly got chance to visit WOHA and get to see them personally. They are one of the famous architects here. And Saint Mary’s Church of the Angels is built by them ok~ so… anyway I posted their photos after this entry too.
3rd, we went to 63 & 65 Emerald Hill to look at some residential shophouses that are renovated and redesigned. An architect designed for these 2 units. Very very cool houses ok, make anyone there feel inferior ok. They are so darn rich….We can only take photos of the first unit, becos the 2nd one got a lot of art works displayed. U know wat, I saw this real size pipa made of glass. Full coloured glass ok!! Wah kao…
Finally, we visited Gujarati Centre, an office for Clan Association of Hindu Gujaratis of Singapore…. Ok, this one nothing much to say abt except the ‘sauna’ at the top floor. We all almost died there lol~~~ The room is so stuffy.
We went to Joo Chiat Hawker centre for lunch b4 we went back sch to take luggage and set off to Malacca. We were all so tired from the morning field trip that the afternoon ride was very quiet – everyone sleeping. I brought the “Undo” illustrated book along to read~ and den after some time, I slept too. Ard 6 plus 7, we reached Malacca and of cos, our BUDGET HOTEL. And u know wat, we have MANY SURPRISES that made us either want to faint or keep us horribly alive… haha…. U’ll find out soon. First when we reached the hotel, we saw this pub and lounge juz beside it…. Sleezy uncles juz looked at us….and so the gals took the lift up… the whole place damn small… and the lift… haha, very scary one… the door shut with loud boom and we felt like we were in somewhere primitive. Ok nvm…. So we gals reached the 3rd floor and when we opened the door, this scene greeted us….
Peeling paints….. wires everywhere…. No-door wardrobe, torn and tattered furniture…. Water-stained and bloated ceiling, stained mirror….OK….. so we tried to switch on the air-con which worked after 5 min of trials…. Ok, now the tv~ oh it worked… but after 5 min, suddenly it is
spoilt… brenda noticed
sparks at the plug there…. Much to our horror…. Ok, now the toilet…. Great god, the
shower head is missing…. Den when we flushed the toilet bowl, gushes of water come out, so our
WC became a fountain… so we examined and found that the water supply joint to the bowl is leaky, so water came out…. We told the staff, who calmly said “yah, that room has not showerhead….” Ok, so are we going to use that bucket to bathe!? Wah, back to the olden age! Ok, so wat abt the WC? They said they will send someone to fix tml morning….lol.
So at ard 8:30pm, we met up outside the entrance to go dinner together with some UM students…. Gosh… I am famished…. It is so late already! In the end we settled in a nice looking restaurant…. Wow… haha cheewee said that we needed to pamper ourselves to make us feel better after the conditions of the hotel had much dampened our mood… the food is rather good~~ quite full~ After dinner. We had quick meeting for feedback at 11:30pm, our leader decided to talk abt this to our teacher in charge. We think that she had not seen the poor security and etc of the rooms. After meeting, we went back to our rooms to bathe etc…. for my grp, we each went to different rooms to borrow toilet… even guy’s rooms lor. Bo bian. now is 1:43 am and I am writing this blog, hoping I can load this in my blog someday….:)
Ok, other then the unbelievable hotel incident, there’s nothing else amusing or shocking for today… lol~ oh I got a Malaysian sim card. So to call or sms me, pls use this number: +6016-6769564. yup~ smsing will be cheaper (15 cents), but not calling from here for us ($1.20). But when ppl call us, we no need to pay as incoming calls are
free for us… so that means~~ “u can call me as long as u wan!!! Lol” kk, kidding la, I think ur side needs to pay, so dun call too much… Well, juz sms will do bah~ I think ah ba would have circulated this number to some of u liao… yup. Thanks ah ba~~ now u finally did something for ur daughter~ haha, ok I better go sleep…. all right, tml will start work le….

The NUS Architecture Graduation Exhibition- "How does your garden grow?"
I am grateful and honoured that my Thesis Project is selected for this exhibition. Honestly speaking, the process had went through multiple changes, and many horrible late nights, stayovers in the computer studios, having Macs for almost every day towards submission period... Much worse is the physical tiredness, mental tireness and depression and all.... Every bit of progress is difficult, full of obstacles and never a smooth path. I won't be able to pull through without encouragement and help from friends and family. Thank you so much!
Opening Day
Date: Saturday, 13 Jun '09
Time: 7:30pm
Venue: Iluma Urban Entertainment Centre
201 Victoria Street Singapore 188067, Level 7 (@Sky garden for the opening ceremony)

My Exhibition Installation @ NUS Museum, UCC - from 7 March to 7 May "Site, Spectator, Situation"
This exhibition project is collaborated among NUS Dept. of Architecture, University Scholar Programme(USP) and NUS Museum for my USP Final Year Project. The opening ceremony and presentation on 6 March was a success! Thanks to Noora (NUS Museum), Lilian Chee (Supervisor from Archi) and the departments for their support and those who turn up and those who visited my installation! :)
My installation is a collage of maps collected during my travels. It is a "Mind" map that existed in my mind based on experiences and memories of places. Hence, it's a cognitive map that is subjective to everyone. Hopefully, this installation will be placed somewhere else later and I'll inform you if it happens. If you drop by UCC, feel free to take a look!
3 other students' works are at NUS Arts Canteen, Kampong Glam and lastly in Museum (level 1).

@ Suntec-MY. PLAYGr0und
It was kinda rush as I only had a sunday to colour up the whole thing. Thanks to my anime friend who encouraged me all the way as I felt like giving up halfway several times then. There are other students and studios participating in this exhibition, such as Imaginary Friends Studios (IFS). Many wonderful artworks. Hopefully more NUS ppl take part!!
