Making lifestyle
Last Fri was another session of drinking... Normally ppl at office slack on fridays or being unproductive and inefficient cos the mood of working is not there liao. so as early as 6:30pm, (ok it is early to us though it is the normal knock off time), we started opening red wine, surf net, watch youtubes together and chit chat. I get to share my sweden experience with them and somehow it entertained them until 10pm cos we are waiting for some ppl to finish their meetings. So ard 1030pm we drove to Bar Stop for a nice late dinner.... and omg, each of us had 1-2 bottles of Asahi. Of cos i was struggling thru tat one bottle painfully. And i turned red easily again... and the rest were so scared that they tried to guide me while crossing roads etc... hey i aint drunk la! and in the end one nice colleague sent 3 of us home as we are the West-erners, so it is along the way. I was hugging one pillow at the back of the 'sch bus' and so I rest throughout most of the journey. hehe~
I was supposed to go out on Sat but mum had a great fall and felt pain around her waist and back after that. so all of us stayed at home to look after her. Sunday I went out for lunch with my Sixoneders. After that I went to look at handphones~ Finally I decided on Sony Ericssion W580i after researching by surfing thru the web and recomendations from ppl. It has FM radio and not too expensive, and more fun stuff inside! I cant wait to get it. The guy at Singtel shop allowed me to have a 2-weeks early upgrade cos I was sounding desperately to get a new hp as my current one died. After that was purely shopping. I was walking non-stop until night k....
Well, my boss was telling us how we as designers, or architects, are the leaders who lead lifestyle for people. And the way we lead our lives should build up our reputation in the industry etc etc... but watever it is, it is how one carries himself/herself. So I muz live in style, look in style, and carry myself in style, and having style of my own, style of thinking and seeing things. Clients approach certain architects for certain style besides customisation of cos. well.... is my drinking red wine, dining at cool places with the office ppl (most of the time we are treated by boss la) etc is giving some hints of living in style? errr...... not yet i think :p well..... suddenly feel like going back sch....
Fri night after work, I set off to Ying's house at Bishan. It is great that it's near my office.... only 4-5 mrt stations away. I managed to reach right at her doorstep without getting lost!! Yay~~ ok la, it was quite easy... with her instructions of cos~ she sketched a simple plan for me via msn k~~ hehe
At first we spent our time eating and chatting~~ There were like 17-18 ppl k~~ wah ahahaha like some kind of occasion. Ying claimed that her house is the HQ of our gatherings! wah sia~ Anyway, we started watching "Notes on a scandal" (not sure if that is the correct title) which talks about an old lady who is a lesbian! And how she preys on young pretty ladies in school.... they said it's a disturbing show.... ok la, i was expecting more weird weird scenes but nothing very interesting.... awwww... anyway I was playing mahjong at the same time la. I only managed to win one round out of 3 rounds.... then I stopped already. We had tow huay from Rocher (Aud helped to da bao for us), and chewy something that Ailing bought for us. All so delicious!! Den phototaking!! Followed by leaving of a few people. In the end, around 11 people stayed over. We spent our time watching dvds..... And one of the movies was brought by wenjun, titled "3 Needles". It talked about blood infection at 3 different places. Hence 3 different stories about it. First one about donation of blood.... which is run by one chinese gal..... and how one guy searched for help in Shanghai... to save the whole village after the gal ran away when she knew things went wrong. The second one about AIDs and irresponsibility of some ppl when they transmitted it.... In the end the mother of that guy sacrificed herself by getting insurance and tried getting AIDs, so that she could get alot of money from insurance to let her son lived comfortably for his last few years... Finally about 3 nuns helping out in African villages.... And one of the young pretty nuns had to sacrifice her virginity, risking her salvation in order to get help from this rich guy to fork out huge amt of money to save the villages. All these stories portray the ugly side of man and at the same time, shows that how disasters etc can bring out the best in man in order to help the others. Very meaningful and touching but.... after watching, u feel *sigh* that kinda mood.... abit sad though.
Next, someone tried to show a movie, something like Glory of War? Not sure the title but when we see the starting with clips of black and white, showing scenes of history-like thing..... we were totally disgusted. Too much of depressing stuff liao!! So I suggested watching Beauty and the Beast!! hehe, I havent watch this before, so is Andrew. I think there are more ppl lor.... So it is more light-hearted and romantic~~~ After that we tried to search the tv channels again, and we came across animes like School Rumble!! But it ended after a few minutes.....so we ended up at a channel showing an episode of "Er4 Zhuo4 Ju4 Zhi1 Wen3". I watched b4 liao but nice to see again. However somehow halfway, I dun remember anymore cos I fell asleep.... it was 6 plus.... The next moment that I opened my eyes was 8:30am already... gheez~ I was woken up by alot of laughter around... Dunno what happened but anyway, rise and shine~~ And all of us went off to Junction 8's Ya Kun Toast for breakfast. Finally we set off for home. Hehe~~ Very fun stayover when u have alot of people together! But too bad I didnt get to play much of mahjong....
So sunday I spent my time at home playing games and packing my accessories.... too lazy to move my butt from the chair ahahha~~ all right, this coming week is going to be very busy.... jialat! i dunw wanna work!!!!!! :( hehe~~
Besides being busy from work for the past 1 week, many many things happened.
Firstly, ever since I have elita came to join me in office since the start of August, I cheered up more in office, and less mindful of my siting area. Becos I visit her upstairs, I get to visit the office ppl upstairs as well. I became more mobile in office.... walk ard more freely.... and i knew i am not alone. I mix ard with colleagues more and etc. So all the sad things i have cast aside and only enjoying wat is good or seeing the good. I hope things will get better and better~~
Last sat I went cycling with a grp of archi frens~ying, andrew, minlee, tianfa and wj~ I was quite worried cos i am still a noob at cycling and for the 4 mths in sweden, i only cycled smooth curved and straight path, each for 5-10 mins, (though the uphill part i cannot make it). So my cycling experience is damn noob. and i never cycled next to ppl or in crowded place at all. So this is damn challenging.... my idea of cycling is still stuck at the image of getting bruises and cuts and falls when i cycle, so I wore a pair of going-to-be-thrown shoes so that i wun feel sad if i spoil my shoes.... But in the end, the shoes gave way before I cycled.... damn... so malu. anyway i got to have excuse to get a nice beach slipper. hehehe~ not super nice but comfy~ i wanna get more in future~ anyway, i managed to cycle around ppl etc... i feel amazed too but then i was unstable and nervous when i felt i am going to hit people... so I kept shrieking with 'ahhhhh ahhhh' and made people ard me worried. hahahaha~~ I held on to the handles so tightly that in the end both my arms and shoulders were aching, not juz my butt. here's photos!!
Then next thing would be Wednesday!!! Yea, on national day eve... my office ppl celebrated national day with boss opening a bottle of good japanese sake made from clear water and excellent rice...... mellow taste and sweet smell.. yea, but it is abit dry type so I dun like the taste... it is still too bitter for me.... den after that 8 of us went to have dinner in some jap restaurant and then 5 of us (including me) went to zouk. I prefer the more electronic type of music but mambo ones still ok la..... and it is not ladies night as it is considered eve of public hols... argh. Anyway for the whole night, we had a bottle (1 and a half bottles actually.... the 2nd one got stolen halfway) of Martel and we had to mix it with green tea ourselves ... and we played guessing game oso. I drank the least of cos....but it was going so slow that in the end we drank martel from the bottle. we took turns with 2-5 secs of each pour. i was sober all the way and one of us finally felt she had reached her limit and stopped drinking. She juz sat there super tired.... the rest continued to chat, drink and dance abit. It was horrible, too crowded and kenna pushed here and there. I hated it so much that i kept screaming, erm to myself la.... cant offend anyone... and they wont hear me in the noisy place anyway :(..... but my colleagues pretty shocked at my screams hahha~~ Soon one of the guys brought the 'sleepy' colleague to taxi stand to help her call taxi. Very soon when I had the my 3rd or 4th pour of 'Martel-from-the-bottle', I started to see some stars and felt abit drowsy. I wasnt drunk but juz the type of drowsiness when u wanna sleep. I wasnt prepared as it juz hit me suddenly. So weird.... I feel uncomfortable so the other 2, elita and a colleague brought me out.... elita tried to lead me out thru the back door by squeezing out thru the other ppl. If not for elita who held my hand and pulled me along, I think i wouldnt have made it thru cos i felt so light and floaty that I cant focus on the way i am walking. Ian was behind me and told me to juz follow. Finally once i got out the door, I puked..... not alot though but I felt much better after that.... at the bar outside, I got a glass of water and sat for a while. Finally, the colleague who juz came back from the taxi stand offered to send me to taxi stand again. lol.... while waiting, i felt i got gastric and i couldnt stand up straight. He told me wat to do, drink H2O etc etc and that the gastric is normal.... Anyway, I got home safe and sound, bathed and slept. I didnt have hangover la cos I wasnt drunk. It is juz that before I could get drunk, my body already cant take the alcohol, so it had to expel it. Great. Well, it's certainly an experience and I never tot I could get myself to the puking stage. i never vomit for a long long time in my life le....
all right~ need to work tml but it's Friday!! Going to ying's house to play games and watch movies after that and stayover! will update when i get back! hehe!

Julie's fav show:
I ain''t someone who will go outside and scream for their idols. I never have one that I really considered as my idol. But I juz give them moral support from behind the TV screen. So... *erhem* if i scream and yell for them, only my family knows... hehe =p
LUCIFY!!!!!!!! U rocks!!!!! yea manz, i love this band after watching Superband. Catch this show on Monday at Channel U, 8pm! I am pretty glad that some jap geeks really appear in this show. I thought no one will dare to do such stuff in a Singapore show... u know, guys putting on make-ups but hey at least they dun cross-dress like the hot japrock band Malice Mizer. But at least it tells us that we have teenagers here who are really being daring, bold and showcasing what freedom means for them.
Lucify may not have the best lead singer, compared to Brods and J3 but the atmosphere and rock capabilities and spirit of a band is there~ U really wanna rock with them. Support them!!! hhaha~
So people, if you are bored and sian after work on a blue Monday, catch this Superband and give urself a rock and feel high, even if it's juz one-hour. You won't regret what these bands have brought for us - quality music and high-time. Check it out, peepz~! Come on, join me :)

The NUS Architecture Graduation Exhibition- "How does your garden grow?"
I am grateful and honoured that my Thesis Project is selected for this exhibition. Honestly speaking, the process had went through multiple changes, and many horrible late nights, stayovers in the computer studios, having Macs for almost every day towards submission period... Much worse is the physical tiredness, mental tireness and depression and all.... Every bit of progress is difficult, full of obstacles and never a smooth path. I won't be able to pull through without encouragement and help from friends and family. Thank you so much!
Opening Day
Date: Saturday, 13 Jun '09
Time: 7:30pm
Venue: Iluma Urban Entertainment Centre
201 Victoria Street Singapore 188067, Level 7 (@Sky garden for the opening ceremony)

My Exhibition Installation @ NUS Museum, UCC - from 7 March to 7 May "Site, Spectator, Situation"
This exhibition project is collaborated among NUS Dept. of Architecture, University Scholar Programme(USP) and NUS Museum for my USP Final Year Project. The opening ceremony and presentation on 6 March was a success! Thanks to Noora (NUS Museum), Lilian Chee (Supervisor from Archi) and the departments for their support and those who turn up and those who visited my installation! :)
My installation is a collage of maps collected during my travels. It is a "Mind" map that existed in my mind based on experiences and memories of places. Hence, it's a cognitive map that is subjective to everyone. Hopefully, this installation will be placed somewhere else later and I'll inform you if it happens. If you drop by UCC, feel free to take a look!
3 other students' works are at NUS Arts Canteen, Kampong Glam and lastly in Museum (level 1).
