UM Day 20-29 - 30th May to 8th June- Return from HELL
Finally after my project submission then I haf the time to write…. I didn’t know almost 10 days have passed. 7 out of these 10 days, I was living in absolute hell….will soon tell u abt it. The hell of this design project…. Within these days, 2 of them are Site Visit Days, where the UM students brought us to places in Malaysia to do site seeing. One is on 2nd June and the other is on 4th June. Submission was on 7th yar. But I enjoyed the the second sightseeing trip.
Before I touched upon the sightseeing trips, I begin on my
project story first…. I admit that I could not handle stress very well and embarrassed myself by breaking down in studio. Not as if I wanted to be a crybaby or wat but I really bottled up all the disappointment, anger, frustration etc etc etc in myself, and I did told some of my frens lar, until in the end the accumulation of ‘gek sim’ (Hokkien: heart pain) made that bubble burst. I couldn’t take it anymore.
For this project, each team has 4 members- 2 from NUS and 2 from UM. However for my group, we only haf 3 people cos one of the UM students is always missing or never come to work, only once in a blue moon we saw him playing music and watching animes on his pc. CRAP. He is notorious among his own UM studiomates and his tutors. Everyone knows that he always never take part in teamwork. I did try to ask him help abit here and there but most of the time it is very hard to explain everything to him as many discussions had gone before. Hard to let him ‘see’ the design nor explain to him how to do this and that. In the end, isn’t it better or easier to do myself? And another thing is we lack of equipment cos Xuhui, the other NUS in my grp did not haf laptop. She had asked to borrow one from NUS before she came but the office or whatever screwed up lar. So in the end, I do not know wat and how to assign work for her. As for the only UM guy in my grp, he is busy with other work, cos he need to prepare some multimedia presentation for the last day of this programme and he was pretty slacky since this programme is only Pass/Fail thing for the UM side. On Sunday 5 June that I realised he didn’t even know the submission is on 7 and not 9 June!
EVERYTHING SO COCK UP! And so becos it is a NO-CHOICE thing that I haf to handle almost everything cos hard to explain to others etc, and yet u desperately need help cos lack of manpower and equipment, it drove me nuts. They said I hold on to everything too much, ok so in the end I gave them the cadding (3d model) to do etc. In the end on 6th June morning, I received horrible work… Horrible in the sense that as I expected, they cannot see my design ideas from plans alone. So u see, not that I want to hold on to everything but just that it is a NO CHOICE thing. In the end I broke down twice. 5 and 6 June…. Horrible horrible. Now I looked back, I seriously think I shld die die oso control myself but I know at those moments, if I dun let out, I may die…. I felt that 10 years of my life has gone and my heart is further weakened.I haven’t recover from my sem2’s design, now another design madness is given to me…. And this is SO MUCH WORSE lor. Ok…. Think I shall stop here.
Ok, on happier stuff: the
sightseeing trips… wah cant remember much liao. Haha.. For the 2 June one, we went to this architect’s firm/office. He is very famous in Malaysia. Name is Hijjas Kasturi. His Telecom Tower is near our hostel lor, everyday we get to see it. Haha…. Not bad lar, the design. The second trip is to Putrajaya. One of new land project in the world.. I wonder how u call that. Just that u built everything from a big piece of empty land, creating a whole new city on it. Yup, a big project. We went in there via cars of the UM students… Very far away from the UM sch lor… and the buildings in there were so huge and monstrous. The National Mosque is beautiful and I think this is only the area where most tourists are. If we go in further, we seemed to be the only grp of ppl ard… it is like a ghost or desert town… It is that isolated or quiet….
The national mosque is really cute and pinkish… as u can see in the photos…. They are pretty strict with females covered up. For tourists, the females had to wear this pink cloak if they think you are covered enuff…. U need to haf long sleeves and not low neckline. So during that hot weather, I wore my sweater… still in the end I joined in with the others to be
PINK JEDIs!! We took and others took many photos of us gals in pink jedi cloaks. Wow, I feel like I’m in cosplaying again… when everyone take photos of u as if u are some kind of big star…However I dun haf a hood behind, so EngKiat said I look like I came out of Maternity ward instead of Jedi. WAT! -_-“
Ok, that all for now… Haf to prepare for exhibition on 9 June (tml!). So I think there is still work to do…. Enjoy the photos ( I will upload some of the 2nd trip ones, the rest are with others).
PS: oh my fingers are finally recovered from the injuries from alkaline abrasions… Except there are scars left still… think it will go off after some time…
hey jul relax... dun let ur blood boil... there are ppl like that everywhere... muz learn how to deal wif them lar... even if it means being nasty sometimes... anyway itz over!! =)
nice pictures~~ =) hope to see u soon when i get back~~!!
*P.S. yar... i have to agree wif EngKiat... =P
Yo, Ed is right. S**t like this happens often. I can't say it's not stressful but then I guessed you did try to handle it the best you can. Sometimes airing it just drags everything down and miscommunication and blah happens... argh... don't remind me...
Ed is also (once again) right in saying that it's good that it's over. Next time, need to de-stress can always talk to non-involved parties like us, ya?
