God Jul
No, I aint God. Neither am i one.
But everywhere in the streets and shops in Sweden and Denmark will be in the festive mood of "God Jul".
Ahahaha~~ ok, 'God Jul' here means Merry Christmas!!!
Yep yep, the streets are beautifully decorated with big big xmas tree, real xmass trees k, and real pine leaves that are made into streamers to decorate shop fronts and across the streets. It's the traditional type of decorations unlike those in Orchard Road which are so commercialised with advertisements of their sponsors.
hehe~
Next week will be going to Kiruna, the northmost city in sweden! To engulf oneself in the sea of accumulate white snow and tranquil atmosphere bathed with serenity. Hopefully get to have a sledge ride, enjoy a session of sauna, have snowball fights, make a snowman (which is my childhood dream since dunno when), and most importantly, able to catch the amazing northern lights.
God Jul, ppl~

Cooking Skills Uplvled?
Nah, nothing much actually. Yesterday wanna grill my fish fillet for dinner and I suddenly wanted to change it to fried fish pieces that have a crispy layer of flour after i have prepared all my garlic, onion and ginger.... erm... but still i carry on... and the worse is... i didnt add water or egg to the flour for the fish pieces to dip in.... erm... but watever it is, it turned out good k. So, my first ever crispy grilled (supposed to be fried) fish with my beautiful sunny side up. hehe~~ sweet~

Well after all the grumbles abt boring sweden, maybe I shall say something good abt it:
- low humidity: I simply love this weather... not the coldness of cos... when I first arrive in lund when it is like end of summer, everything is cool and reasonably dry. I like it when i dun feel sticky and sweaty like we always feel back in sg. I feel so clean all the time here.
- food will not go soft even if left open to air after a few days. This feature is really cool! U can leave ur packet of biscuits, chips or cereal open and they remain crispy as ever!!
- No bugs: I think maybe it is during this time of the year when most bugs went to hibernate or migrate, that I dun see any ants or flies etc so far. Not on the streets, not in my room (except one spider that got in when i open my window), not in the kitchen!! No lizards or cockroaches or watever! YESH!!!!! so basically, ur food is always clean even if u left them lying around for a few hours or overnight. No one will come and eat it. No one as in no buggy bugs. Imagine no need to yell at cockroaches or shooing away lizards, nor do u need to be weary of flies or getting bites by mosquitoes. Really! I LOVE IT!
- Reduced tension of using water: Here, there's plenty of water. Unlike back at home, ur parents will scream at you for using water too much. Well we can peacefully use water to our pleasure. Hmpf, that means can bathe longer~~ SHLD bathe longer, haha~~~~ aww too bad they dun have bath tub. anyway i dun have much leisure time to soak myself in bath tub anyway.
- Electricity: Well, I aint sure how costly is their electricity charges but wat i know is, we paid a big sum of money for our hostels that include water and electricity. If u see in the the selfish way, you can say that we can use electricity as much as we want!! muahaha. nah i aint that evil. But at least I dun feel the pressure when I forgot to off lights when I accidentally doze off etc. This is another good good feature for me.
- environment friendly. well, the ppl here recycle stuff regardless if they get back money for them ornot. this is very motivating! haiz... when will singaporeans learn? generally most of us cant be bothered abt recycling. Anyway, i know my corridor mates are very organised at this. and they have compartments or bin specially for different materials. And end of each week, the person at duty will recycle them at the garage downstairs. I of cos became more environmentally friendly due to their influence and i feel really good. And it is becoming a habit. For plastic bottles and glass bottles, if u recycle at Willy's (my nearest departmental store), you can get some money per bottle! Great motivation oso eh~
- hmm dunno if it is legal to say this but here the regulations against downloading stuff is nil? or so lax that they dun care abt it. so u get wat i mean rite? yea, u can fill ur days watching movies and listening to music to ur pleasure...
- hmm wat else.... i can only think of these 7 points at the moment.
haiz i miss the bright white lightings.... here in these hostel rooms are all dim and orange... too good for making u doze off and sleep... Last few days when I was trying to draw my plans, my eyes were tearing like hell... cant see properly lor... haiz....
ok, back to work~~ or maybe resting and lazing ard abit. hehe~

Getting Fat?
How is that possible? When I was webcaming with bren on 1st nov to show the snowy weather outside, bren said my face seemed to look fatter.... I tot it is the webcam's lens that caused this. But still was pretty worried... Then few days ago when I mentioned this to sis and mum, sis agreed!! She compared the photos of those taken in Malmo to those in Copenhagen and said my face looked fatter. I was totally shocked and sank into dismay. Is it true? Oh no....
But I really cut down in several foods and i tot i having a healthier SNACK lifestyle than that back in sg. So far for snacks in this WHOLE 2 and half months up til now:
- 1 packet of potato chips and 1 packet of taco chips
- no ketchup sauce or chilli sauce
- 0.5 litres of ice-cream
- 2 roll cakes
- 2 slices of caramel cake
- 3 muffins
- 3 bottles of soft drinks
- 3 pack of fruit juices
- having apples for 75% of my days
- milk
- 1 bar of choc
hmm briefly, i cut down on chips, ice-cream, cakes (no cheesecakes and mudpies!!!) and chocolates drastically. oh i didnt eat any burgers here too. Sis said could be the pasta... hmm, ok, more than 50% of my main course are related to pasta. sheesh. luckily i hadnt had pizza often here, else it will be worse. ARGH, from now onwards, rice rice rice!!
as for soft drinks... i think i'm drinking lesser amt lor.... i always had bottles and bottles of pokka tea in addition to my family's supply of sprite and sis's supply of coke.
But, i have unhealthy lifestyle for proper meals. So far I have fish fingers and occasionally fish fillets, sausages and meatballs as my meat source. So far I havent buy a single piece of chicken, or pork or minced meat etc for myself. I only ate those when somebody cooked them during our weekly or fortnightly dinner sessions. hmm... dun worry, i aint going vegetarian. never! i love my pork floss, sausages and bak gua... haha. i miss my white pomphrets too. yea my fav fishes, my main seafood intake.... awww... aint i deprived here....
1 and half months more!!! And first thing I do when I step into my house then would be to weigh myself. haha~ thanks to my sis for her evil laughter when hearing me freaking out at possibilities of getting fatter. And teasing me further on that! ~>.<~
ok wed is the last interim crit/ presentation before the final submission and presentation in mid dec. So will be busy from now onwards... haiz~~
some sad incidents happened... one of them would be I lost my right contact lens.... well, I have to get a new pair after I return anyway since the current one is 2-yrs old already.
Archi ppl in sg are having hols liao except needing to complete a research methology essay. how nice. now my turn to pia .... :(
ja~~

Cold days and busy days
Apologies my frens~ that I haven't sort out the germany and italy+london photos... haha... haiz~~
Anyway, i think now is the peak period with lotsa work to do and an essay deadline coming up. shucks... but compared to life in nus archi, this is considered slack i know. anyway... After I returned from london on 23rd, I had a dinner gathering with my corridor mates on 24th oct. Louis, a swedish gal, made very delicious caramel cakes and she decided to make the 2nd cake a coffee caramel instead. And I used this chance to take photo of Johan without his specs, due to popular requests.. well I dunno if it is well taken ornot but he juz had a haircut den... so.... Anyway the dinner photos here~ Dinner served in buffet style~ yum~

These were the people present for the dinner. There were still missing people. Nice setting, aint it? Table candles.... dim lighting...ah~Beef with red wine for the main course.
Right, this is Livian at the 'buffet' table. She's actually a german who stayed in Sweden for many years and yes, she speakes like any other Swedish. She's approachable and cheerful, which makes me enjoy talking to her without feeling awkward or distanced.

These are the caramel & coffee caramel cakes that go well with cream and sour berries. They are wonderful! The caramel layer tasted like those that are sold in shops. The only flaw was.... they were abit sticky to the knife and kinda separated from the bottom layer when u sliced and picked them up to ur plate... anyway, sweet~

Ok, this is Johan without his specs. The gal beside him is his gf~ hmm, pity she aint looking at the camera for this but you can see her in the first photo above anyway.

This is Axel with his camera and Peter beside him. Haha was Axel abit acting cute here? Well, he's a nice guy too~ Peter was the 2nd person who always talk to me when I first came here. (Johan was the first then).
1st November:I woke up in the morning due to a phone call. It was yh.
"Hey! Did you look out of your window? It's SNOWING!!!"
In the next second, I was wide awake. I jumped out from my bed, rushed to the window and drew up the blinds. Indeed it was snowing! Unbelievable! White flakes danced and floated ard in the air. They were as light as feather. I watched the snow getting heavier and heavier while the wind got nastier. And so I decided not to go sch for the day. bad me. Wanted to go Willy's store to get some grocery done, so I decided to dress up and went outside and took photos. However while I was outside at my bicycle shed, the temperature and wind was too cold for me, and I headed back to my room... haha. anyway here's the photos.
The scene outside my window was so movie-like.... like those I've seen in "Love Letter" or any other quiet romantic movies... It was so dreamy.... cold... serene.... quiet.... sad...

My poor red bicycle... covered with snow... and piles of leaves had flown into the shed and accumulated.

I took a photo of this tree juz outside the shed... beautiful in its solitary pose, accompanied by a few frens of his - bicycles....

Finally I get to touch snow. And it feels exactly like those stuff you had in ur freezer. They are soft though and really freezing cold that you cannot stand a single second without your gloves. Even my jeans n boots were useless. The next few days were cold too. Only recently, the temperature is warmer, slightly colder than that of autumn. whew... I wonder what will happen to me during the kiruna trip. Kiruna is far up in Northern Sweden where u see snow, nothing but snow... good for sledge rides and skiing, and of cos to see the northern lights if we were lucky to see it.
Dearie me, I really need to spend alot on winter clothings then.... argh.... and my laptop fan is starting to sound weirdly again.... argh!!!!
Right, alot of work to do for the rest of the semester. So pardon me, if I seem busy or MIA.
Pss: I could be sleeping too! Cos I would often run to my bed and snug under my blanket. *sheepish grin*
